My AC Is Running All Day, Is It Broken?

When it's normal
During a heat wave or a particularly hot, humid day, a properly sized system can run almost nonstop simply because cooling demand temporarily outpaces its ability to catch up. That's not a sign of failure as long as the home eventually reaches a comfortable temperature, even slowly.

A clogged filter is the most common and easiest cause to fix — it restricts airflow and forces the system to work harder and longer for the same result. Also check that the outdoor unit isn't blocked by leaves, grass, or other debris reducing its efficiency.
